Pre-Time Travel
Elenoa had only known peace briefly. Born in the year 2195, the world was in the beginning phases of the robot takeover. A certain corporation's plans of building a robot army had gone astray. The advanced AI used for detecting enemies had developed beyond their scope, causing them to turn against their creators. With violence in their code, their followed their original command to destroy and conquer. A path of devastation lay in their wake, with few able to defeat them.
She grew up in a city that was not yet taken over. However, the threat of it always loomed over her head. Her family consisted of her, her mother, father, and younger brother. They lived in a small house on the outskirts of the city. In spite of the hard times they lived in, they loved each other dearly. Her scarf was a gift from her mother, in a long family tradition. To this day, it's one of her most prized belongings.
At the age of 13, she had left run some errands for the family one day. Once she returned, she found her home reduced to a burning wreckage. The robots had attacked while she was away, sparing her solely by chance. As much as she tried to dig through the rubbish and debris, it was too late. Her family was already dead, with her never getting the chance to say goodbye. All she had left of them was her name and her scarf. In her grief, she made a promise to herself. She would stop the robot apocalypse, even if it killed her.
Soon enough, the whole city was under their control. Through her sharp wits and desparation, Elenoa would survive to adulthood on her own. She picked up fighting with both guns and light swords quickly out of necessity, though guns were always her weapon of choice. Unlike others, she could outmanever the robots and could hold her own as a result. While she would see other freedom fighters, it was only a matter of time before they fell or became the villains they sought to destroy.
It taught her a harsh lesson, one that would drive itself deep into her head: If she was going to survive, she would have to do it alone.
As much as she told herself that, the kindness in her heart never died. Her desire to stop the robots was driven by her not wanting anyone else to face the grief she did that day. While she grew jaded, she still couldn't turn away from someone who was in danger. She would become a light in the dark, someone who would fight for those who couldn't defend themselves. Despite the hope she gave others, she would keep to herself. No matter how lonely she felt. When peace came, she wouldn't have to be alone anymore.
One day, word of a time travel device being developed spread to her. What was left of the corporation would try to go back to remove the AI from the robots. Knowing the robots themselves would still exist, Elenoa made it her mission to take the device and go to the past to stop it herself. For a kinder future for everyone, instead of just those who worked at the corporation. Maybe then, she could see her family again. After infiltrating the company building, she stole what resembled a CD player. With the press of a button, she went back in time.

However, she would not travel to the past alone. A robot she frequently fought, Trinity, was not far behind her. She attacked while Elenoa was travelling, warping them both back over 200 years earlier. As soon as they arrived, they immediately began to fight. The human would manage to shake her off her trail, with them both losing track of each other. She'd keep an eye on the news, but the robot never popped up. While no news is good news, she could only hope nobody got hurt because of this.
From there, she would start on her plans right away. Through a series of infiltrations and long nights of research, she would track down the people in charge and "convince" them to stop. In the meantime, she had also genuinely convinced some of the lower level employees to get a new job. She wanted as few people to get hurt as possible, but sometimes it was unavoidable. Especially once the CEO grew aware of her mission. But, people being out for her life was nothing new to her.
She would stay in internet cafes and cheap hotels, assembling all her notes in several notepads. While she was there for business, it was nice having a door she could lock again. This would prove to be an issue she would run into later down the line: Staying in a time that's peaceful was nice. But, she reminded herself again and again to not get attached. If she stayed, the future could be altered irreparably. The Butterfly Effect was something she knew well, so she only made changes she could predict the consequences of.
A month into her time in the past, Elenoa received a tip from one of her sources. It was from the girl who had an internship at the corporation, but left a while ago. Root was one of the easiest to get information from, since she viewed it as just complaining about a past job. She told her about a scientist she worked with, who had long, gray hair and stayed in his labcoat even when he left for the day. Someone very devoted to his job. He was the head of the robotics division, a prime target for the time traveler.
Going out to drink that night, she opted to visit a gay bar in the area of Lapistoria where she was staying. One of the patrons would catch her eye, however. A scientist with long, gray hair who was in a labcoat after his shift presumably ended. While she intended for tonight to be a break, she couldn't let this opprotunity pass her up. She approached, asking if she could sit next to him. Visibly flustered, he accepted and gave her his name: Weiss. By some coincidence, they had the same lapis.
Root didn't remember the name of the divison head, so Elenoa thought she had her target. The two talked for a while, surprisingly hitting it off. She hoped Weiss was one of the ones she could talk into quitting. He was cute, it'd be a shame if she couldn't. Once she asked what his job was though, the mood shifted. He left the topic as soon as he could, urging her not to seek employment there. This raised a red flag for her. For a workaholic, he clearly wasn't happy about it at all. It seemed.... almost contradictory to the information Root gave.
Once Weiss got up to leave, Elenoa offered to walk him back home. While she hoped to get more intel, she was honestly worried about him. He had drunk far too much and even from just their conversation, she could tell he was in a rough mental state. Upon arriving at his house, she offered to trade numbers with him. It was here she realized she made a horrible mistake.
Weiss didn't work for the corporation.
An act of kindness that small let a dam loose. The doctor broke down, an almost incoherent stream of words flooding out of his mouth. While she struggled to keep up, she could make out what mattered. Amidst apologies, he revealed there were kids involved. Kids who didn't deserve "that." The time traveler asked if she could come inside, to which he just nodded. As much as she tried reminding herself she shouldn't get involved, Elenoa couldn't just leave him alone like this.
Once he calmed down a bit more, he explained the situation. Still stuttering, he explained how he worked for a certain organization that was researching lapises. However, the people running it were abusive towards the subjects, who were just kids. The worst of all being his boss, a man named Jadeite. Unable to stop it himself, he couldn't forgive himself for being complict. Elenoa came across similar cases in her infiltrations, underlings being abused by their superiors. Weiss acted just like them. She asked if he was being hurt as well, to which he just responded with "At least I deserve it."
The time traveler was faced with a dilemma. She knew intervening would change the timeline in drastic ways. This was the fate of dozens of people she was changing. But, she was here to make the future better, wasn't she? She had plenty of combat and strategizing experience, she knew for a fact she could come up with a breakout plan. Extending a hand to him, she offered to help him get those kids out of there and put an end to this all. Finally seeing hope in his dead eyes, he accepted.
The next morning, the two got right to work. It'd take a few weeks of planning, but they wouldn't quit. As they planned the breakout together, it dawned on her just how different Lapistoria was at this point. The Lapistoria she knew was almost a myth. with nobody able to go there. A world closed off, due to the grief of its god. While she wondered if what she was doing would affect that, she pushed it aside for now. God wouldn't be involved with this, right?
One day, Elenoa received a call from Weiss. They would have to begin their plans early, due to unforseen circumstances. One of the kids wouldn't survive much longer in there, due to the organization wanting to put them down. The very next day, she would meet up with him before his shift was due to begin. Going over everything one last time, they were ready to give these kids a kinder future.
As far as she knew, it went perfectly. Leaving the labs ruined, the time traveler watched as the test subjects happily ran out. From there, she went her own way. She planned to disappear off into the night and never see Weiss again. She couldn't stay involved with the doctor, not when she was planning on going back to the future. Sure, he'd be confused but it would be better than them getting close and her having to go. He had a heart of gold, she couldn't bear to make him experience that same loss she did. Not that type of heartbreak.
And yet, the she found herself not wanting to say goodbye to him. For the first time over a decade, she had an actual friend. Not someone who'd stab her in the back or die before they could really understand each other. He'd always try to make her feel at home, even when they were discussing their plans. However, the chance to delay that goodbye presented itself to her. The very next day, the doctor had texted her. He asked if she wanted to come over, since there was someone he wanted to introduce her to. While she knew she should have said no, she accepted.
In the months that followed, she would find herself getting intertwined with their lives. It got to the point where she got to stay over for Christmas with them, a tradition they would continue as the years went on. As she spent more time in the past, she realized she was genuinely happy there. Without the threat of a robot apocalypse over peoples heads, they didn't feel the need to fight for survival. Peace brought peace. Her intel sources would joke around with her and even strangers would tell her they hoped she had a nice day. For once, it felt like she a place to belong again.
And she hated it.
Sunny Park Era
Despite that, peace would not last. The organization she helped Weiss stop was still after him and Black. With her experience in battle, Elenoa would help them create the revolution. Fighting for what's right, the group was determined to create a better future in spite of the cruelty of the world. She found herself feeling hopeful for once. During this time, they would also assist her with stopping the corporation.
It would come to a head one day, when Black got severely injured in battle. She would stay with them and Weiss until they woke up. Once they did, she gave them a gift: A black scarf, just like the one her mother gave to her. She figured she wouldn't be a parent, so may as well continue that legacy with them. The event made Elenoa realize something, however: She was growing far too attached to them both. They had their own lives, it wouldn't be fair to expect them to come to the future with her.
Once Black left for Sunny Park, she vanished as well. She spent around six months on her own, focusing on her mission and her mission only. While she would never regret the work she did, the loneliness she grew accustomed to suddenly felt so much worse. On the most upsetting nights, she would find herself cuddling with the labcoat Weiss gave her for going undercover. She had to face it: she had fallen in love with him. Even worse, she knew he felt the same way. The distance did little to aleviate her feelings.
During this, a thought crossed her mind: Would it even be her family she would be returning to? She was well aware she wasn't the same person she was back then. The chance of being a stranger in her own home was something she didn't even consider. Faced with this revelation, it threw everything into question for her. In spite of that, one thing remained clear to her: Even if she couldn't go home, the future was still worth fighting for.
Lapistoria Era
One day in summer, Elenoa overheard some students from a certain academy talking about something familiar to her. While they didn't use the terminology for it, what they were describing was lapis pollution. One of the girls couldn't get back home after playing pop'n with the principal of their academy. Stranger yet, it felt like she somehow heard this conversation before. She tried shaking off that feeling. It must have been too similar to the stuff she learned about lapis pollution, that's all.
As the time traveler dug for intel, she realized two things: Jadeite was the principal of the academy and Weiss was working there as the school nurse. Once again, fate led her back to the doctor. Claiming to be a relative of one of the students, she snuck into the school and found him. In spite of their time apart, he made it clear she could always seek him out. The trio would resume their meetings, with their place of choice being the church on the school campus. That hope she felt by being with them came back. In due time, the first wave of lapis pollution came to an end.
As Elenoa gathered information on the corporation on her own time, the deja vu she felt became too much. These days felt like she lived it several times. As odd as it seemed, she was stuck in a timeloop. That was the only explanation. In her attempts to figure out why it was happening, she wondered if it was due to her own mixed feelings on if she should return to the future or not. In the depths of doubt, one person came to mind for her. After everything, he deserved to know the truth.
Outside the school's church, Elenoa found Weiss having a smoke break. Once they went to their usual meeting spot, she had confessed everything. There was a reason why she knew so much about revolution and a reason why she stayed away for so long. This time wasn't hers, and she shouldn't have been making bonds she'd have to throw away someday. She had spoke of how she wanted to stop what caused her bad future and see the family she lost. Hell, the reason they met was because she mistook him for someone from the corportation. But, the realization she could never truly go home was crushing. Finally letting herself be vunerable, she admitted she didn't know where to go anymore.
Despite what she expected, the doctor wasn't upset with her. Shocked, sure, but he only reacted with sympathy. He told her that he was sure her family would have been proud of her, for all the good she's done. Meeting her was one of the best things to ever happen to him, whether it wasn't supposed to happen or not. She saved him and all of those kids that day, after all. Even if she felt alone in the world, her family would be watching over her. Hearing those words, she realized the home she was looking for was right in front of her this whole time.
She remebered what her parents told her when she came out to them: They wanted her to be happy. Coming to terms with her grief, Elenoa told him she wanted to stay with him and Black. The doctor smiled warmly at her, saying she'd always be welcome to. They would walk towards a brighter future together, the three of them. In the church, they would return each other's feelings and exchange their vows to keep fighting by each other's side.
In spite of these developments, lapis pollution was still happening. While gathering intel on her own, Jadeite approached the time traveler. She bluntly told she wouldn't take him to Weiss unless if he had a good reason. Not after everything she learned about him. Unfortunately, the culprit of the new wave of lapis pollution was too important to ignore. Once the group was together, things quickly took a turn for the worse. The beginning of the end was already set in motion.
Elenoa would mostly remain an overseer for the events that followed. She would return to the labs, where she'd learn that not all of the kids were saved. No, one was left behind by accident. In the midst of this, she caught the name of the child: Jade. The same name as the god of Lapistoria in her future, who ascended much earlier than now. It dawned on her just how heavily the timeline got altered by her intervention. But, that meant he could still be saved from the tragedy that closed off this world.
Upon waking up in the Pop'n World, Elenoa realized this was entirely unfamiliar. The group had successfully escaped the timeloop. Watching Black run off to find Jade, she then turned her sights to MZD. Approaching him, she let him know of her plans to stay in this time. Upon being reminded that she's a time traveler, he didn't think much on it. He was confused on why she thought he'd had an issue with this. If she was happy here, what's so wrong with that?
In their ensuing conversation, MZD would let her know the timeloop wasn't even her fault. Due to her time displacement, she was left more sensitive to it than the average person. If her time in the past taught her anything, it was that fate worked in mysterious ways.
Post-Canon
After watching Jadeite get assassinated, MZD brought up an important question: Where was Jade going to go? The answer seemed pretty obvious to Elenoa. She asked if Weiss would be alright with taking the child in. After all, he had history with the doctor and Black, so it'd probably be less scary for him than going someplace with strangers. Once Jade himself accepted the offer, they became a family of four (five if you count the paku).
During one pop'n party she and Jade were invited to, a face Elenoa thought she'd never see again appeared. There was Trinity, who quickly made it clear she had no intentions of fighting. Off on her own, the robot was also exposed to the kindness of others. It had made her realize just how cruel the system she was created under was. So that's why she never popped up in the news. She thanked the time traveler for "making her realize what being alive was" and asked if they could be friends this time. She gladly accepted.
